Shannon Taylor is running for Congress in Virginia’s 1st congressional district. She is an attorney and prosecutor who has served as the Commonwealth’s Attorney for Henrico County, Virginia since 2012.

Virginia’s 1st Congressional District is based in the northern part of the state and includes the exurbs of Richmond. Under the map’s current lines, President Trump won the district by 5 points in 2024. This seat is currently held by Rep. Rob Whittman(R). In 2024, the race for VA-01 saw very little outside spending, with Democratic candidate Herbert Jones raising $140,867 and Rep. Whittman raising $2.7 million. This cycle, Taylor has been included in the DCCC’s Red to Blue program and is challenging Rep. Whitman.
