Rep. Davids has been serving as the U.S. House Representative for the 3rd Congressional District of Kansas since 2019. Davids is one of two Native American women to have served in Congress. Additionally, she is the first LGBTQIA+ Native American to serve in Congress. Before Congress, Davids was an attorney, a professional mixed martial artist, and a White House Fellow.
Republicans approached the congressional redistricting process in Kansas in 2021 with one objective: to make Rep Davids’ district as Republican as possible. The new district splits up Wyandotte County, where Kansas City is located. This shifted the slim Democratic-lean in the district to a Republican-lean. Kansas 3rd congressional district also includes Anderson,Franklin and sections of Miami County. Despite GOP efforts, they continue to fall short. In the 2024 race, Rep. Davids faced off and ultimately defeated GOP challenger and doctor Prasanth Reddy by 11 points (42,301 votes). During the 2024 cycle, Rep. Davids raised $5.9 million, and her opponent, Reddy, raised $1.8 million. National party committees, Super PACs, and additional non-candidate groups were not as active and only spent around $400,000. This is Rep. David’s fourth time seeking reelection in this district.
