Rep. Chris DeLuzio has been the U.S. House Representative for Pennsylvania’s 17th congressional district since 2023. Prior to Congress, Rep. DeLuzio served in the military, where he completed a deployment to Iraq. After serving, he received his law degree from Georgetown and clerked for a federal judge. Later, he worked for the Brennan Center for Justice before working at Pitt Cyber as a policy director.
Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District encompasses the Pittsburgh suburbs of Mt. Lebanon township, Penn Hills township, and all of Republican-leaning Beaver County. Following redistricting in 2021, the seat was made more democratic after the district was drawn with the inclusion of a chunk of suburban Allegheny County. In 2024, Rep. DeLuzio was challenged by former Republican state representative, Rob Mercuri. Rep. DeLuzio defeated Mercuri by more than 7 percentage points (34,938 votes). In his reelection campaign, Rep. DeLuzio raised $5 million compared to his opponent, Mercuri’s $1.8 million. More than a dozen super PACs, national party committees, politically active nonprofits, and other non-candidate groups together spent more than $1.1 million.
