Pia Dandiya is running for Congress in Florida’s 22nd district. Dandiya’s parents emigrated from India and settled in South Florida. She has worked in both the public and private sectors as a public school teacher, principal, White House Fellow at the Department of Education, and leading public-sector innovation at Apple. She is running for Congress because “families across South Florida are being squeezed by the cost of living — housing, property insurance, prescriptions, childcare — while Washington works for the insiders and the well-connected instead of for them.”
Florida’s 22nd district stretches from the Gulf Coast to Palm Beach County. This open seat changed dramatically under Florida’s new, gerrymandered map passed earlier in 2026. The district would have voted for Trump by 11 points in 2024, but also voted for President Biden by 3 points in 2020, showing that it is a true battleground. This seat became open after the map was redrawn and the district became considerably more Republican, and the incumbent, Rep. Lois Frankel, is running for FL-23. Pia Dandiya is running against GOP challenger and self-funder Casey Askar.
