After high school, she served as a Captain and paratrooper in the U.S. Army, leading soldiers overseas and participating in peacekeeping missions. She has since dedicated her career to improving the livelihoods of all Americans, including over a decade at United Services Automobile Association (USAA). She then returned to public service and has held leadership roles on Capitol Hill and at the White House.
Colorado’s 5th Congressional District is located in the eastern part of the state and includes the city of Colorado Springs. Ahead of the 2022 race, this district barely changed under the redistricting process. Under the old district lines, in 2020, President Trump won the district by 13 points; however, after redistricting, former President Trump won this district in 2024 by 9 points under the new lines. This seat is currently held by Republican Rep. Jeff Crank. In 2024, the race for Colorado’s 5th saw $2.8 million in outside spending, with Democratic challenger River Gassen raising $172,285 and then Republican challenger Crank raising $1.1 million. This cycle, Killin has been included in the DCCC’s Red to Blue program and is challenging incumbent Rep. Crank.
