Shah is running for the U.S. House in Arizona to continue fighting for reproductive rights, lowering costs for working families, protecting democracy, and improving access to healthcare.

Arizona’s 1st Congressional District is based in northeastern Maricopa County, and includes the city of Scottsdale. Ahead of the 2022 race, this district changed substantially under the redistricting process. The newly renumbered AZ-01 seat, numbered AZ-06 under the old lines, is currently held by GOP Rep. David Schweikert. Through redistricting, the seat became bluer but is still considered Republican-leaning. Under the old district lines, in 2020, President Trump won the district by 4 points; however, in 2024 Trump won the district by 3 points under the new lines. While it is an overwhelmingly white district, there are significant Latinx and Jewish populations present as well. In 2024, the race for AZ-01 saw more than $25 million in outside spending, with Democratic candidate Shah raising $6.1 million and Rep.Schweikert raising $4.1 million. In 2026, Shah is challenging incumbent Rep. Schweikert again, and the DCCC has included Shah in its Red to Blue program. V4P PAC has not yet endorsed in this race.
